Sun Room Addition  ∙  Hudson, Wisconson

Although this simple sun room addition is a 3-season room, it makes the most of available sunlight by aligning its longer south/southwestern side to the low angles of the winter sun. Slightly askew and taking advantage of these angles, it is supported by minimally expressed structural supports and hangs gracefully off the living room of the existing house. A masonry hearth visually anchors the space, supports a floating stair / steel frame (brown), and provides warmth for outdoor recreation.
